EDEN: THE GARDEN OF GOOD & EVIL

I owe a great debt to the writer Florence Scovel Schinn for it was her description of the bible as being the greatest metaphysical work that ever written, that allowed me to overcome my distaste for revisiting the bible as an adult.  I made up my mind quite firmly very early in childhood, that I did not like the bible, and I liked even less, the God whose word the bible was supposed to represent. Luckily I read several of Florence Scovel Schinnn books after beginning my spiritual Journey and with adult eyes and intuition, I realized that GOD had been lied on, and that the Bible had been hijacked to bind men to lives of limitation and fear.  I eventually began to take a new look at this maligned book and found that it was truly filled with wisdom. I began to see and understand for myself that most of the bible was never meant to be taken literally.  Looking at bible stories with the goal of deciphering their hidden meanings, allows us to see yet more layers of illusion that has been fostered on humanity.
 
One such story of illusion is at the very center of creation where we first meet The creator God in Genesis. Right away, we are introduced to a being that seems to be anything but loving and at the very least, whose actions are extremely perplexing. Now if ever there was a story with a hidden meaning simmering just below the stated surface and hiding in plain sight between the lines, it is the story surrounding the fruit of The Tree of Good and Evil in The garden of Eden. It is part of the creation account from both The Hebrew & The Christian Bible. In order to uncover it’s true meaning, we will need to look closely at the details and use both reasoning and intuition.

To begin, let's start by scrutinizing Eden itself. Now even though descriptions have been given of it’s geographical location, to date no archeological evidence has been found of the Garden of Eden. And none will ever be found, at least none that will offer definitive proof. That is because Eden is being used in the creation story as a metaphor for a declared state of perfection. Eden is not a physical place; it is inside the human body; to be exact inside the center of the spinal column where a spiritual and physical transformation known as the Kundalini awakening takes place. This will become more and more evident as we progress. So right from the start, Eden reveals itself to be a story of metaphors. Indeed the entire story is laced with metaphors describing the “fall of man,” and his gaining the forbidden knowledge (more about this later).

The next metaphor concerns Adam and Eve. This couple is not a man and a woman, neither are they the first two humans, as some would have us blindly believe. Adam an Eve are metaphors for the left and right hemispheres of the human brain: The masculine and feminine aspects of the self that must be re-united in enlightenment for the self to gain full understanding and harmony with itself and make use of the increased power, understanding and creative abilities that come with a higher evolved consciousness. The internalization of this discovery is the intention on life on earth There is another story that we should momentarily visit at this point.  It is the story of The Annunaki as told by the Sumerian Tablets, and from which it would appear that the Christian Bible borrowed heavily for it’s Genesis Story of Creation. Even so, we could still assume that The Sumerians were also telling the creation story using Metaphors.

Next let's look at the fall, that supposedly took place in Eden. The fall was not as a result of eating an apple. The fall is due to the fact that humans were created with two distinct and separate halves of the human brain. This separation is to a large extent a functional one and it's occurence is important because it specifically hampers thinking with the brain as a whole. This means that for most humans, learning, understanding, problem solving and preferences are dominated by one side or the other. With the advent of formal science, a culture of left brain thinking has developed over centuries to be the way that the world sees things, especially robbing it of the benefits of the right feminine intuitive side of right brain thinking . These benefits include intuition, higher creativity and creative processes, all of which result in a closer connection with consciousness. Left brain thinking as we know, results in logic based thinking that while having it's own enormous benefits, results in rigid thinking that is hostile to the feminine. 

So to clarify, Adam and Eve are not a couple, they are the feminine and the masculine aspects inside of each human. Now let's turn our attention to the trees in the garden. Both the The tree of Life and The tree of knowledge are co-incidentally found in the midst of both gardens and are extremely intertwined, differing only in degree. In fact they are so intertwined that they are one and the same. Having decided that the original story should serve as an introduction to the sins of mankind that need to be forgiven by an invisible God who would have to be served without question, the writers needed a second tree to be a distinction with the first as well as to be the bearers of differing fruits. Ultimately though,since the aim of the story of The Garden of Eden was to subliminally warn humans away from the tree of knowledge, the only and one true tree in the garden, the second tree was brought into play and called the tree of Life. In the human body, the Tree of Life iscomposed of the central Nervous System, in particular the brain , the Spinal Cord with the spinal nerves. When this part of the body is viewed separately, it can be seen how it could easily be a metaphorical tree. which is also what the abstract kabalistic representation of the Sephiroth is based on. Besides, given of the importance of the structures and their functions, this adds even more to the reasons to regard this area of the body as the Tree of Life. Without nerves that function as intended, no other system or structure or system within the body can function. Lastly and perhaps even more importantly, the Life Force or electromagnetic energy which animates the human body, enters into and has direct effects on the central Nervous System. This energy is electrical in nature, and is the reason why the greater portion of the brains neurons operate via electrical energy.

Now back to deciphering Eden. Soon after Eve is tempted by the snake and eats the fruit, then shares it with Adam, the story takes an unexpected turn, where both realize that they are naked, and with only some perfunctory dialogue with which to dispense with the formalities of them being cast out of Eden, the rest of the story is pretty much about who begat whom. For me it took the acknowledgement of three separate ideas to understand what is the fruit of the tree of Good and Evil.

First it is necessary to face an obvious fact; the bible does not shy away from frequently speaking about sex, albeit at times in coy language. For example There are countless reports of different figures in the bible, “laying” with sexual partners.  In some instances, this is actually quite scandalous as the partners are in fact close relatives, or the wife of the character’s brother and so on. Sometimes the words “to know” is substituted for the phrase to “ lay with “ both pointing to sexual intercourse. The observation that sex is spoken of quite frequently and often unnecessarily is not an idle one since most adults, and even most children on earth, will figure sooner or later out how babies come into the world. So why all the sex talk?. And while sex is not an overt part of The Genesis story, I felt that it was there just under the surface. (There were some concrete reasons for this conclusion, so please read on)  Next in the ideas that I considered is the absolute insistence of the Catholic Church as well as many other religions that sex is sinful except for procreation purposes. Catholicism is even founded on the legions of men and women who in service to the church, pledge to abstain from sex. No matter how much we would like to ignore this, Sex or rather to forsaking of it, seems to be awfully important, but why?.

Lastly in the three separate ideas that I considered in decoding The creation story, were the translations of The Dead Sea Scrolls that speak of the day to day lives of The Essenes who were a 2nd BCE Judaic Sect. The Dead Sea Scrolls describe how the Essenes went to great lengths to live a life of chastity. Even going so far as to abstaining entirely from sex; leaving it to only those couples who wished to have children. And even then a strict code of behavior was followed which included ample amounts of hard physical labor with which to distract themselves and judicious amounts of washing in cold water, the equivalent of our modern day cold showers. This cinched it for me; I was sure that sex is very much at the center of The Garden of Eden.

So is the fruit of knowledge; aka of Good and Evil sex?.  No it is not, The fruit of the Tree of knowledge of good and evil is neither sex nor is it an apple, that is yet another metaphor. The fruit of this tree is specifically the sexual orgasm. In a strange twist of opposing metaphors, the story hints at the deeper level that it is the orgasm that is evil, while in truth, the orgasm is the stumbling block to return to Eden and Kundalini's rise; but more about that later. So for a story fabricated on the intention of keeping humans away from sex and having orgasms, I can only surmise that the authors of the mythical Garden of Eden either did not truly understand the nature of Kundalini, or else they wrote themselves into a corner when they suggested that humans stay away from wanton sexual pleasure, when it is the very over indulgence of that pleasure that will prevent Kundalini from rising. Once Kundalini rises up to unite both sides of the brain, she begins the process that will potentially result in an enlightened human being who can then know things via intuition without having to depend on carefully crafted stories to hide the facts. Finding oneself in a corner of one's own making is not at all unusual when humans set out to mislead using fabricated story overlaid on the real truth of an original story.

One Biblical figure who though not related to the story, nevertheless helps to reinforce the conclusion that The Garden of Eden was a metaphor for sex and the orgasm, was Onan who committed the egregious sin of spilling his seed on the ground. According to Genesis 38:10 "And the thing which he did displeased the LORD: wherefore he slew him also."  Imagine that God killed Onan for wasting his precious “seed”.  Much of the later chapters of Genesis enlarge on the hidden sex theme. What on earth does sex have to do with pleasing the Lord?. Or for that matter gaining higher consciousness and Enlightenment?. Why does the word of God talk so much about sex?. Allow me to digress for a moment,  next to the bible, so -called fairy tales written supposedly for children, are equally laced with metaphors begging to be understood. One such fairy tale tells the story of creation as Snow White,  that less than subtlety named symbol of purity, who falls asleep after eating the poisoned apple. The apple is frequently the metaphor for sex. This same metaphor that is used for the fruit of the tree of good and evil. And why? do children need to know this?. They don't, but you can subconsciously program adults by repeating the story often in many different forms and they will never recognize the program, at least for generations.

The sexual orgasm or fruit, was both pure, i.e. good presumably when engaged in by a married couple in order to create a child, and evil, when indulged in purely for the sake of pleasure. And remember Eve, or the feminine aspect was the first to be tempted all by herself. Enter Kundalini or Shakti , the Divine Feminine Essence dancing up the human spinal column, aka The Garden of Eden to meet her male counterpart Shiva. Hindus and Buddhists both believe in the practice of Tantric sex. For anyone who has felt the stirrings of an awakening, or an already awakened Kundalini, the sexual urge can go into overdrive as The Kundalini Energy moves through the root Chakra. When she arrives there, the sex organs are affected by the increase energy in the area, and it is then that the Kundalini Serpent expresses in all her tempting power. The urge to have orgasms can become all consuming. Just ask any number of devout followers of holy men of all cloths who have mistaken Kundalini with the apple in The Garden of Eden. Kundalini aside, sexual lust when provoked under any circumstances, causes the afflicted being to become the slave like, mindless servant of the orgasm, willing to do almost anything to arrive at the goal.

Both trees; the Tree of Knowledge, and the Tree of Life, are both in the midst of the garden.  For thousands of years, long before the Bible was put together into one book, the Egyptians and later the Hindus, referred in symbols and in writings to Kundalini as the serpent energy or power that brought enlightenment and higher learning. Spiritual Seekers today know that when Kundalini rises, she is represented as coiling from side to side around the spinal column from the original ancient knowledge. This most likely was adopted to make use of a snake in the garden as the symbol for Kundalini. Incidentally it is from Kundalini and her "higher learning and wisdom" that we get the caduceus with two serpent coiling around the central staff or spine. used by the Medical Field to symbolize higher learning.  I want to emphasize that the Tree of Good and Evil is the same tree as the tree of Life. However for the purpose of burying knowledge that is essential for humans to know. Knowledge that makes the difference between enlightenment to evolve human consciousness into higher consciousness, as opposed to living in fear, confusion and doubt, the second tree was only created to support a colossal misdirection away from the truth.

And to once again digress, Kundalini is strangely behind the reason for that famous “snake off “ with Moses and The Pharaoh. By eating from the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil, Adam and Eve succumbed to the sexual urge by eating the apple, preventing Kundalini from rising. Now if it seems contradictory here, let me explain. I am quite certain that the texts that were used as the basis for the Garden of Eden, spoke of forgoing the orgasm given the information in the Dead Sea Scrolls. this avoidance of the orgasm was similar to Tantra in order to aid Kundalini. However, for the authors of Genesis, it was no longer important to make the distinction between sex and the orgasm. Sex by itself would serve the intended purpose perfectly. And the proof is that the writers fell into the temptation of using yet another metaphor for sex which ultimately showed their hand, was when they stated that after Adam and Eve ate of the apple, they realized that they were naked and they were ashamed. . Unless of course one is secretly writing a work that paints sex as dirty and shameful. Why should being naked be cause for shame?

The next logical question, is why would Adam and Eve die if they indulged in they ate from the tree of knowledge?. Was this meant as literal death, or was this yet another metaphor?.  The death is again another half truth and half metaphor. There is indeed a death: it is the death of the ego self that is crucified and dies as Kundalini rises. In the French language,  the term “la petite morte,” or the little death, to mean the brief loss of consciousness that occurs at the moment of orgasm, or to describe the post-orgasmic state of unconsciousness that some people have afterwards. There is good reason for this. In the moments after orgasm the consciousness via the brain mind connection, is put to sleep.  Many men literally fall asleep after the orgasm as if the body demands a time of recuperation for the tremendous amount of Life Force that has been spent.

Snow White’s story also helps to explain this phenomena as she fell into a prolonged sleep or loss of spiritual consciousness after eating the apple or sex. On the psychic side of things, the orgasm briefly drains some of The Life Force from the body, which if not replenished or when augmented by other destructive habits, depletes the body’s reserves. We are electromagnetic beings, the female being the negative charge magnetic to the male’s positive electrical charge. Life Force is The Electromagnetic current that animates us and all life including even planets and solar systems. .The male in the sexual act brings his positive electrical charge together with the magnetic negative and receptive pole of the female.  So outside the creation of children, either male or female ejaculation could be seen as a waste, or an abrupt discordant break in the wondrous electromagnetic union. So what are humans to do with this tempting poisoned apple?. Enter Tantra.

At first, true Tantra might seem like an impossible game of torture. After all sex with it’s grand finale of the orgasm is one of life’s great pleasure for most humans. However , be patient a while longer, The sexual act mirrors the creative act that takes place to make planets, universes and galaxies. It is about a desire so strong that something must be created. “As above so below,” that wonderfully descriptive axiom lends itself here beautifully.  Desire the electromagnetic kind, is what we humans know as Love. I know that does not sound very romantic and it would not be if the Creator had simply decreed that opposite poles of a magnet should get together. Instead that has been transformed for us into the distinctly pleasing emotion of Love, addictive in it’s own right, just to ensure that we seek out Love. This electromagnetic desire hold our bodies and the cosmos together. We must substitute the human feelings of love into The Tantric equation to start out on the right path: As the beautiful song titled "Always be Humble and Kind," succinctly points out; “Know the difference between sleeping with someone and sleeping with someone you love.”  We are meant to “make love” not just have sex. Many a man and woman if honest, have taken note of the depressing feelings that meaningless sex can produce, a distinct feeling of regret, even disgust the instant the sexual act is completed with a partner with whom there is no connection of spirit.

In true Tantric Sex, the sexual energy is circulated between both partners, who come together in love and mutual respect, without the energy ever being released. With practice, the sexual energy circulates in waves of incredible bliss and physical actions are kept to a minimum to facilitate this.  That energy of deliberate loving sexual intercourse feeds everything within range of it's occurrence. I was once told by a Holy Man, that in India some temples are used as places for lovemaking between a special couple in order to increase the energy inside the temple. Only after experiencing this incomparable high will humans willingly give up the orgasm. The orgasm is highly addictive and if that is all one knows, it is always difficult for humans with an addiction to give up their chosen drug. And sex is but a drug for many. So does this all mean that the orgasm is to be avoided at all costs and what about using Tantra to tempt the temptress serpent Kundalini? And do humans shorten their lifespans by having Orgasms?.

This needs to be answered in two parts. First, kundalini energy once sufficiently roused from it’s chamber in the base of the spine, will almost certainly result in rising through all the chakras to the crown much quicker if the orgasm is avoided. Secondly, to state the obvious, the sexual energy is humans is overwhelmingly powerful and explosive. Again we would do well to remember that the sexual energy is the same energy of creation. It is indeed both apt and amusing that science describes the moment of the creation of our universe as “the Big Bang” signaling the release of pent up energy. Creation of our universe is said to have occurred through a coming together of male and female counterparts such as The sun and the moon.  And of course male and female divisions occur throughout the universe and not just matter on earth .

The practice of Tantra as a means to awaken Kundalini and get her to travel upwards is fraught with the temptation to just have orgasms in order to release some of the pent up sexual energy demanding to be released. Much of what passes as Sacred Tantric Sex, is simply just very enjoyable sexual intercourse with the delayed orgasm with the participants engaged in a self-delusional exercise until the orgasm happens. This ends with “A good time was had by all.” except for Kundalini who is again denied her rapturous dance up the spinal column to her counterpart. There is very little that is sacred about the act without absolute understanding and preparation. Without preparing the scenario that will undoubtedly unfold, will be similar to one promising oneself to eat only a measured amount of a rich, meal or treat, and then despite good intentions, one ends up gorging oneself. There is always the same beginning, intention and failure phases.

The thing to remember here is; “ SEX is SACRED.”  Pretty tough for humans addicted to having orgasms

With this said, the orgasm is neither punishment neither is it the cause of death or the fall from any state of grace for humanity. Having borrowed from more than one philosophical religious stories, Genesis was put together using this borrowed information for the express purpose of binding humanity to the idea that we are weak sinners in need of an unrealistic God outside of ourselves, who presumably made us less than perfect, just so that we would have to obey and worship all our lives in order to be saved.  In fact, there are ways to replenish the life force that have nothing at all to do with sex. Remember too that even in The Genesis story Adam and Eve were not locked out of Eden forever. A way to return was left open to them, albeit guarded by an over stimulation of the Root Chakra.. Genesis 3:24 informs us; "so he drove out the man and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life."  That flaming sword and the Cherubims; are more metaphors for the sexual act which robs the higher voltage that was built up to enable Kundalini to rise. The serpent It seems gets to have the last word.  So if Tantric Sex is the path that you choose to awaken her, just don't over estimate your ability tosublimate the sexual energy and certainly do not underestimate the physical effects that the Kundalini energy has on the root chakra as it rises up the spine.  not underestimate her if Tantric Sex is the path you choose to awaken her. And you should know that the body's store of energy can be increased without sexual activity and without disturbing the Root Chakra.
